What to do!
Ok, Right now I have a L03 in my TransAm. Currently the 5.0L has the following mods
Shaved Heads
Hooker Headers
Magnaflow Hi-Flow Cat
Magnaflow Performance Exhaust
K&N Open Air Element /w K&N Filter
WonderBar from TDS (This thing is sweet!)
NOW!...I was wondering...once I get all the bugs worked out of the system (Code 32, bad O2 sensor, and a new IAT) what mod should I target next.
My friend told me the key to a powerful engine is in the heads. He said the 305 heads were real crappy and didn't flow much which is what made the 305 a poor engine. He recomended getting heads from a 5.7L. Said it would give me extra performance.
What do you guys think...would this be a good upgrade or would you do something different?

How much money do you have? How much time will you put into tuning the chip? If you're on a budget get some 305 TPI heads and port them if you can; if you can't they're still much better than your swirl port heads. If you can tune (which is a must with heads and/or cam) then get a cam too. A lot of people go for the LT1 cam, its easier to tune in. If you can tune well, go bigger.

I would look into a set of 081 or 416 heads along with a cam and prom burning stuff. In fact, I would start with the prom stuff right away so that you now how to make the necesary changes once the heads and cam go in. Stay away from 350 heads unless they have been milled.

I am a computer programmer by trade so burning proms shouldn't be too hard. I guess the next thing I will buy is the gear to start working on my own racing chips. Thanks for the advice

do you just buy the whole back end? If I do that then I definately want to get something with disc brakes. What make would you recomend. Posi definately would be nice as these one wheel peels are kinda embarrassing.

Changing rear gears is a great idea. As far as chip burning equipment look into the Prominator http://misterbill.homeip.net/aboutprominator.asp

Well that prominator definately looks sweet. Me thinks that I will be getting one for sure. As for the gears...can I just put gears in my current back end or do I have to buy a whole new back end. Posi would r0x0rz for sure.
