Camaro ram air pics
Well, I finally got a camera.....
Anyways, here are a few pics of my ram air setup. It uses the tpi ram air ducts and air cleaner, a 3'' pvc pipe, and a '90-'91 caddy tbi "hat"
Throttle response is much crisper on the highway, overall performance feels better as well, though I have no track times to prove anything. This is on a close to stock L03. I hope to make it to the track at least once before I swap the 383/t-56 combo in (ETA....1 month!!!).

No offense taken.
Keep in mind it is ram air, not cold air. I have a z-28 grill, and ducts that run from it to the aircleaner.
When I run at the track, the main purpose will be to compare the ram air with the open element.

hehe....yeah, I origionally had it on the '90 which was black, and was going for a deep purple color on the air cleaner....turned out more like Barney though.....
If the results are positive at the track, I will just paint it good 'ol satin black

I really wouldnt consider it a true "ram air" intake unless you run it without the filters. They will just STOP the ram air affect. Itll be like air hitting a brick wall. Try it with and without the filters at the track to see what im talking about.

that's what I planned on doing. Usually when I run at the track, I run with out the open element, and that alone was usually good for a tenth and mph. But since I'm running the l03 and will be lucky to hit mid 15's, I'm basically just going to run with no air cleaner, as well as with the ram air with and without filters

I was actually planning on going out to Rt 66, but as it turns out I'm gonna head down to St Louis and just go to Gateway friday night. Where is Cordova?
I will make it to byron at least once this year for sure, so just let me know if you are interested in going. Probably won't be until Early Aug though

I think that's the slickest adaptation of the TPI air filter housing to TBI I've ever seen! Paint that houing and the PVC black and it could probably pass as a factory setup. Way to go!

lol. I picked the caddy hat up from a salvage yard for $10, which included the rubber adapter. I haven't ran this car yet, as I just picked it up in April, but I am headed out to gateway friday night with the sole purpose to compare the open element to the ram air setup. Not really looking for killer times-I'll be happy if it hits mid 15's, but the 305 is coming out in roughly 2 weeks and will be replaced with the 383 and t-56 combo.

yeah, personally, I think the 14x3 open elements look the best. The ram air is just one more thing to clutter the engine bay, but if it works it works.
still haven't made it to the track for times. Gateway was closed friday night(gotta love rain). I didn't even attempt Rt 66 Tuesday for the same reasons. I am seriously considering a g-tech now....

If you do the comparison make sure you do it with an open element on and not just no filter at all. No filter has been shown to actually lose hp, as seen in the recent Hot Rod magazine.

yeah, that's what I am planning, with and w/o air filters for both setups.
Though I wonder if Hot Rod was "influenced" in some way...... Running without the filter (open element) has yielded me consistent gains of over a tenth and 1.5mph multiple times. Of course, that is with a new fram, not a K&N, and on an engine that was starved for air.
