Tuning TBI

Might sound like a dumb question, but how can I tune My TBI unit... currently im running an LO5 w/ stock TBI unit w/ 55# injectors, stock intake manifold and a custom chip ... when i rev it up to 5-5500rpm the richness in the exhaust is EXTREMELY bad.... you can smell it from 20 ft away... is there any way i can fix that besides a VAFPR?

The only way to actually tune an EFI car is with the chip. If your thinking about actually tuning your car, then you need to read the stickies at the DIY Prom Board. Any mail order chip is just guessing. You can spend forever trying to get close odering chips or trying to tune over the phone. For the profit you'll be putting into someone elses pocket to actually get it right, you could buy your own stuff.

It is not that hard.

Luckily there are some really smart folks involved in the DIY effort. Jon Prevost wrote a program that basicly will tune for you. you drive around, get the data, and then run his program, it takes the logged data, and modifies the file for you. all you need to know how do then, is use the programer, and make any other changed needed.

Just start reading, and dive in. it is the only way you will learn this. we all were at the same point you are at some point.
