Nitrous Kit
Nitrous Kit
HEY FELLA's,
I'm looking to spray my 305. I don't want to be lectured on how bad that is for my car. I want to know what you guys have put on and what works. What kind of kits, where to get them, what size shot have you been able to run without problems? My 305 is stock from heads to crank. All the other cheap mods are already done, shift kit cold thermo, exhaust, open element. I am also running an eaton posi, with 373. Open for suggestions. Or if anyone has a kit to sell .... nater_07@hotmail.com
Thanks,
Nate

Before you go putting nitrous on your car you should add all the supporting mods like headers and a good ignition. Anyways, I like the NOS kit as it is a plate system, which is the only kind I like for tbi, the material of the plate isn't metal which will help keep heat down, nos has a lot of accessories for their kits, and their tech support is pretty good as well. I looked at NX which isn't a plate kit and just from looking at the design I knew it wasn't for me, I also looked at the Compucarb kit which wasn't bad, but the plate was metal and it is an ugly yellow color, lol.

I would run the NX kit , and a jacobs mastermind. (actualy i plan to, i just have other things first.)
your going to want a FP saftey switch, and window switch. by the time you invest in those two options, you have almost paid for the mastermind.

i actualy like the nossles with the kit vs. the NOS kit. and i have heard so many good things about NX. The one downside to the NX kit for me is price.
actualy, if i'm going to spend the money, i will probably end up with a fogger system.
then the NX and NOS kits are very similar. and not all the much more than the other systems.

Spray a 100 shot on the stock 170hp motor and you're still going to be running high 14s or worse. Plus, it's temporary. Nitrous isn't something magical that makes your car ultra fast. It's a short-term fix for a long-term problem. Instead of pissing away $500+ on a nitrous kit for an L03, put it into a new rear end, or a full exhaust. You wont come close to 250hp with just an exhaust, but the results from your nitrous later on down the line will be so much more impressive. If you change your gear ratio from 2.73 open to a 3.73 posi, you will probably run close to the same quarter mile as with nitrous on a stock motor- permanently.
The base-model and RS both got the worst things GM has ever made- the worst heads, the worst cam, the worst exhaust manifolds, the worst rear end, worst torque converter (and possibly transmisssion)... Work on those things and you'll be much more satisfied.
Instead of blowing through a straw, you'll be blowing through a garden hose. With nitrous, you'll try to be forcing about 33% more air through this straw at first. Nothing good. Nitrous will be fun after you open the engine up a little more.

Token,
He listed exaust, posi and gears in his orginal post.
Well, you are always going to get better results after heads/cam/intake/tuning.
There are very few ways you can pick up 100+ HP for under $1k.
