why does my fp drop

why does my fp drop

well ihave a gmvafpr on my car.the idle fp is 9 and wot 15.but i noticie something the other day .when i came back from a short trip, that the car temp was over 220 i open my hood to cool the engine and i saw my fp was at 6 psi idle why does this happen?wat can it be?

My guess would be your engine was pulling more vacume. Which would pull your FP down. Also you should really think about ditching that VAFPR unless you tune a chip for it. I don't think the "stage 2" is setup for it, actually I would venture to say it would run much better if you unhooked your vacume line.

i have a liquid filled fp gauge.i have a chip burn for my specs including the lt1 cam but. my car is still not tune right i need a laptop and winaldl,then i could burn my chips to perfection

Liquid filled.... that's the problem, not your ACTUAL fuel pressure.
How did you get a chip tuned (that isn't tuned) for your specs if you don't have a laptop or winaldl yet? A friend?

Liquid filled gauges are notorious for incorrect readings when the oil in them gets hot. I had this same problem and it drove me crazy. Changed to a non-oil filled gauge and pressure reads steady all the time hot or cold.

i got the chip from tbichips.com when i get the laptop and the cable i will send him the results and he will send a perfect chip.wtf most member on this site told me to get a liquid filled due to more better reading,now u guys tell me when ther hot they dont read right?hmm im confuse

Liquid-filled gauges are better. They hold up a lot better to vibrations, which you need since it's in the engine compartment (this is what I have come to understand, I don't know if this is fact). There's probably a formula somewhere that lets you see what your actual FP is according to the temp.

i use my liquid only to set the FP on cold engine. liquid fiiled is the issue.

well if the gauge will be good for cold fp setting then that all i need.so then when the liquid is hot that why my fp is like at 6?

Back off the regulator a bit and see if your feed line pressure goes up. Decreasing the fuel pressure limits some of the fuel entering into the injector pod and will inturn increase your line pressure.

You know what, you are right. All of the extra flow will just go back out through the return line. This would only be true if there were no return line or it was horrible clogged. I gotta get my mind off an LS1 swap.
