This hose has been hanging there every since i bought the car almost 2 years ago. Anyone know what it is or where it plugs in to? Is it a hazzard being unplugged?

It hooks up to your air cleaner assembly. I think it operates the butterfly in the assembly intake. I think it's a thermac. I could be wrong on that name though.

It is for the thermac in the stock air cleaner snorkel. I would just cap it and get rid of that piece of hose. I think there is a pic that labels the vacuum ports in the new to TBI sticky above.

Yeah, if your running an open element you should just plug it. Leaving it open will make your car run crappy.

Where do you get the plugs for this? Mine still looks like the attached pic.

Just go to any auto parts store and you'll find the plug. I can't remember the exact size right now, but I'm sure someone else does. What size is the stock hose you have on there now?

You can get a set for a few bucks in the "help" section at autozone. You can use one of 3 of the 6 or so they give you in the pack. Just look for vacuum caps. It will slide over the port and you are set to go.

I don't have the stock hose anymore, but I can confirm that 5/32" works perfectly .

I switch back and forth between an open element and a dual snorkel. When I use the open element I just plug it with a screw or something like that.

As for capping off the stock sized hose...well I used a golf tee....has worked like a charm for years.

Question: Why do you switch back and forth?

Inspection?

I'm curious if you notice any difference in performance between the two.

Inspection is one reason. Another is to see if there is any differenct between the two. And I have not found any. Another reason is the black chromed dual snorkel looks better for a car show or something like that.
