How do i go about advancing my timing?
i hope this is in the right section but i wanted to know how i would go about advancing my timing by 6*. once i do this should i run premium 91 octance or run the 85 octance that i am now. i'm at 8000ft elevation in laramie wyoming so i know that makes a big difference. i used to be able to leave nice black marks back home by flooring it and now i can't even chirp my tires up here. so if anyone can help me out with the timing i'd be very appreciative.

i just read that page and it says i need a timing light, does anyone know if most auto parts stores rent them out or loan them out. i'd buy a timing light for myself but i'm a little short on cash being at college and not having a job right now. but thankx for the link.

A place like Autozone might rent them out. They do rent a lot of tools out, so check them. If not, you can pick up a decent light for pretty cheap.

There are plently of links in the "new to TBI" sticky up top on timing. It will tell you everything you need to do to set it correctly.

dude even though cash may be short I'm pretty sure timing lights can be got for less than $20. I think theres a wallmart special thats even cheaper. Plus don't rent it because what happens when you need to adjust it some more? or you think it may be off etc you can't check the timing without renting one again.
Oh and doing a search here is a must theres reams of info on here, weeks and weeks of reading. everythings allready been covered by someone somewhere.
good luck
