My 87 454 TBI/400THM dies when when I put it into gear (D). This all started after I had to replace the distributor due to a verified bad module and pickup. No codes are showing up. Any Ideas?

check to see if the distributor is 90 degress off. also might want to check the timing.

 

Either too much timing advance or you're lean. It's one or the other. So turn your base timing down, see if that helps. Do turn it down past stock!
If it's a lean fuel condition, change your fuel filter, if that doesn't help you've got something else going on that is abnormal.

 

Thanks for the help. I'll was trying to check the timing but could never find the mark on the balancer with my timing light. Turns out the inertia ring has slipped and the rubber is coming out. I have a new balancer coming in the mail. I'm also working on getting a scanner as well.

I ment to say DON'T turn it past the stock setting. Sorry about that, wasn't really sober so I wasn't proofing.
