yet another proposed setup

Current mods are in sig. and i'm looking to maybe break into the 14s and keep it streetable because i will have to make a 3 hour trip on the highway whenever i come home from school.

flotech headers and Y pipe
3 inch piping
Edelbrock TBI intake manifold
LT1 cam swap
1.6 RR
new valve springs obviously
B&M shift kit (sitting in my closet)
ported 081 heads
custom chip

i want to stick w/ the stock torque converter because i dont want to lose my gas milage and for fuel i was hoping just to have the fuel maps taken care of when i get the chip burned (i have a guy lined up in the area who can help me) are 14s possible for me? any other suggestions would be great i also dont want to go with a more aggressive cam because of money and once again i dont want to change out the torque converter or lose any more gas milage. yes i have read all of the Stickys i am just curious to get some feedback.

Well another TGO member TonyC is running a setup not too off from your proposal and he just ran a 15.1 last night. And he still has the stock LO3 heads. So I would say that it is possible to run in the 14's with that setup.

It's all in the tuning. With that setup I would think you could hit low 14's fairly easy if you do good port work on those heads. I wouldn't dismiss a torque converter though, that's an easy way to pick up huge time. Don't go crazy with it and you won't lose too much MPG. You could even look for a used S10 converter that will give you a little higher stall, do a search on that.

Conditions:

It was cold. Probably in the 50's. That's cold for PHX. There was not very much grip on the track.

I just checked Tony's sig and it says he is running a 3.42 posi. My mistake.

what does an S10 converter rev up to? also any ideas on the fuel i mean do i need to go with a form of AFPR or can i handle that simply with PROM tuning? my cousin is a motorcycle mechanic (hes in the process of finishing school) and he works at a shop right now and hes going to take the heads off of his suzuki TL 1000 and port them and im gonna see if he could do the porting after he learns how. im sure bike heads are different but they cant be that different ya know?

i have the opportunity to buy an LT4 cam, i can get the LT1 for cheaper but will the LT4 cam add that much more power? also, what is the average price for #081 heads? will these still flow well with an LT4 cam?
