305 to 350 TBI

ok so I know this could be a waste of money and time but what if I swapped in a 350 for my 305 TBI and left the stock TBI system? I know I would need more fuel to compensate for more air being added. So I was wondering if I can keep the 305 TBI set up and get more fuel to the mixture by adding either a regulator or higher flowing pump. The only reason I would do this is so I don't have to buy the 350 computer and emissions stuff. And if I added TPI heads, being that they are not the swirl port, would I need 2 cats if I keep TBI? If all else fails I would just try TPI intake and such. Thanks

The 305 and 350 TBI setups use the same intake manifold, tbi, and computer. The only difference is that the 350 uses a different chip, bigger injectors, and youll have to get a knock sensor ESC Module for a 350 engine. You can use TPI heads with no problem but you might have to do some EPROM tuning to get it to run right.

Agreed. The chip and injectors are the big things. They will make or brake your potential power and drivabilty. It is not uncommon for 350 TBI swaps to be slower than the 305 when the stock chip is used. This is covered an awful lot so a few searches should give you more details.

you can PM me for details i did that, and i dont have a tuned chip, and a 305TBI can beat me... im in the process of fixing it. I wish i woulda listened to them when they told me the same thing... if you have patience, you might as well wait and build a better motor... you notice a big difference in the bottom end torque, but thats just about it... and, the open element sounds different.
