i could get a camaro rs with a 305 TBI with 156k miles and i was wondering how much does it generally cost for a rebuild on a TBI motor?

 

Are you planning to do it yourself or take it to a shop to be rebuilt? An engine rebuild on a 305 TBI shouldn't cost much different than a typical V8 engine rebuild, so just ask around and see how much others in your area have paid for rebuilds, or call shops and ask them.

For comparison, I rebuilt my motor myself in Feb. '04, and the total cost was around $700 (this is including everything, gaskets, pistons, connecting rods, bearings, freeze plugs, machine shop work, etc., etc.). But, I was able to do a good bit of the work myself (like rebuilding the cylinder heads), and I did get a discount at the machine shop, since I was at college.
