Simple air cleaner question, thanks

quick question... I’m just about ready to throw on a Dual Snorkel air cleaner, but in taking off my stock air cleaner and I realized that there is a tiny tube connecting to an area right below the air cleaner, and there is also some type of senor or plug that I had to disconnect...The Dual snorkel does not have the sensor thing in it, or the tube attachment.... is this ok?…do I need to take that piece out of my old one, what then do I need to do with the tube.... Thanks a lot. (can i discard the plug in sensor and just remove or plug the tube)?

the sensor in the bottom of the stock aircleaner is the IAT sensor (intake air temperature). Just remove it from the aircleaner, plug it back into the wiring harness and zip-tie it somewhere near the firewall away from any heat sources. Also, the vacuum hose connected from the snorkle to the TBI is for the THREMAC system which allows the throttle body to take in hot air from the heat stove during warmup and then when the car reaches a certain temp, the valve within the aircleaner snorkle opens, allowing cold air to flow. The vacuum hose should go from the tbi to the middle of the aircleaner and then another hose from the aircleaner to the snorkle. There should be a similar setup on the dual snorkle i believe.

I'm still not sure about what you mean....there is a larger tibe on the side and a smaller tube that goes up to the bottm of the aircleaner...but this dual snorkel does not have the flaps in the ports.....I'm confused now...I put the old IAC from the other air cleaner into this one...so can i just stick the small tube into it, even though it won't be controlling the flaps?

there are also (2) holes in the IAC to stick the small tube into...does it matter which one? Only (1) will be used b/c there is no other tube...at least i think so, but I'm a bit confused

The little tube that you see is the vacuum port for the thermac to work. You can take that off and plug the port on the TBI with a vacuum cap. The IAT is on the passenger side of the air cleaner and is fixed into the base of it. Take the clip off that holds it into the housing and remove the sensor. Either place the sensor away from a heat sourse as vjo described or drill a hole an out it into your new ait cleaner assembly. If you look at the "new to TBI" sticky up top you will find a pic with all vacuum ports labeled.
