Engine starts, then dies immeadiatly......
If I decide to take the car over 75 MPH on the freeway ( like 75-110 MPH) everything is ok . I park the car, an turn it off. The next time I go to start it up, it starts fine, then dies right away. The first time it happened to me , I started it 3 times and it kept quiting, until I quickly gave it some gas after it turned over, then it straightend right up. It still is happening after every time I go a little fast on the freeway. Starts, dies, Start, give some gas , ok. Would this be a vacume leak if it ONLY happens when the car has been opperated at above average speeds?
Any ideas welcome.
THANKS!

Do u ever notice bluish/white smoke coming out from behind your car? The 305s from this era developed leaky valve seals that dripped oil into the engine. After a hard run, it could be enough to partially foul the plugs, which in turn makes the car stall. My '88 TA stalls the same way, and that's my theory on it anyway.

I do have the smoke at start up. Last weekend I had the air intake manifold off to do my cap/rotor, and I noticed (mind you I havent had it very long yet) that the ring gaskett on the top of the TBI was half rotted away. There was about an .200 gap for air to get in where the gaskett was gone. I cleaned the old one off (what was left), and put on new one. I havent had the start-stall happen again yet.
Maby too much air was chokeing it out at start up
At any rate this seems to have taken care of it.

Mine did the same thing with the stock setup. Start, come up to around 1400 rpm, crap out. Crack the throttle open a little bit and it wont stall like that.
