Decent Results with a K&N Filter...

I've had my K&N filter in for about 2 weeks now (no open element yet--), and i just refilled my tank for the first time since it was put in, and i gained about 1.5 MPG. I was alittle surprised because i thought the filter wouldnt really do anything in the stock housing, but apparently it had a small benefit. So for any of you using the paper element whether it be in your stock housing or an open element, K&N should get you atleast better gas mileage.

Note: I will be getting an open element within the next 2 months, but until then my K&N is gonna have to do.

That's really shocking.... I could see maybe 1/4 - 1/2 mile per gallon, but 1.5 MPG gain?!?!

Yea i mean its an approximation, but i do the same driving practically every day so it should be pretty damn accurate. Pretty rural, hilly driving with the occasional highway trek. I would have to say, however, that if anything, since ive had the k&N filter in, ive done more city driving than when i intially tested my gas mileage.

So here is how it stands:

Without K&N Filter: 20.67 MPG
W/ K&N Filter: 22.36 MPG

Sounds like an open element just became a priority for me... my 15 MPG "Moving BRICK" needs all the help it can get.

With just an open element I used to get 31 mpg on freeway trips. I can't remember what I got with the stock air cleaner but I suspect it was roughly the same.
