tbi,carb,or efi.what should i do.
hey all.
i'm planning doin a 383 swap.the motor i was looking at is rated at 450 carbed h/p.i have an 88 tbi formula.i am assuming that it would be easier and cheaper to switch it to a carb setup and still be emiss legal.it will be a street only car.i would like to switch it to an efi.just wandering what u guys think.thanx.--jay.

First question: Do you have emissions testing in yoru area?
Second question: Is it a visual inspection as well?
If the first answer is yes, and second is no - get a SuperRam. It still has an EGR, and you can use a lot of stock TPI hardware (sensors, etc.)
If the answers are yes and yes - start looking into prom burning unless CARB's were avaliable and considered legal for your car, because you're stuck with TBI as far as I know.
If both are no and no - get a converted LT1 intake, or HSR and have a lot of fun!
(Basically, avoid the carb if you can.)

If the emissions is lax in your area and you want power for cheap, go carb. If you're worried about MPG then go with any aftermarket EFI. . .if you're worried about MPG and $$$, then stick with the TBI.
