Intake And Exhaust Mods Need Imput
I've been doing some reseach and I tried doing a
but I need more specific info. First off I have a 305 with a 5 speed and 3.42 posi. I have hedman long tube hedders and a magnaflow catback for 94-98 camaro in mind. I know I need to make my own y-pipe and adapt the catback to fit but that is fine. Also I was thinking of a carb intake either Weiand 8000 or edelbrock 3701. I work in a machine shop so fabbing a throttle linkage and y-pipe aren't the problem. I'm looking for opinions on parts selections or problems that I might not be aware of. thanks for your help.

FYI unless you have pre86 heads neither of those intake manifold will work on your car. You need something that will fit 87+ heads. For example Summit PN EDL-3704, EDL-2104, etc. The angle on the center intake manifold to head bolts are different from 86 to 87. Id suggest going with a carb manifold w/ adapter plate, but if you want ease of installation go with EDL-3704 since there is no modification to throttle cables etc.
As far as long tubes, there shouldnt be a problem w/ a manual trans, the only problem would be ground clearance is limited.
But if your looking for more power you have to get rid of the cam and get a tune(i know its been said a billion times and played out) but those are the two main things contributing to TBI's lack of power. So before you look into a new intake manifold you might want to look into a cam. You will benefit from that way more than the intake manifold only. IMO

You can simply elongate the center holes, it's not that big of a deal. I use cap head bolts and no spacer, some people make spacers, some buy the ones that come with the stealth ram. It really isn't that big of a deal. I think getting the throttle cables to line up correctly is a much bigger deal.
