i was goin out to the mailbox today when the mail man was comming up the street, and the guy up the street had told him i was home porting some heads. (the mailman owns his own head shop w/ a flowbench) and he asked some stuff about what i was doin and told me he had a flow bench. i asked how much he charged for it and he said normally 35 dollars a port but its a slow time till mid december for him and if i got done in a month or two to let him take em and he would flow test them for me for free....well how bout that how lucky did i get. when i get done i will have him test them and i will post my flow numbers on a mildly home port job on these 081 heads.

Very cool! Post pics as well so we can see what the numbers came from.
Man, I got lucky with my heads, too! Yesterday, I pulled a valve cover on my 91Z to get a header on and didn't recognize the head casting number. After I looked it up, turns out someone either put TBI heads on it or a whole TBI truck long block. Wow! I sure hope it's not a roller cam..... or a 4-bolt main! What are the chances I could buy a car with arguably the worst flowing 350 heads ever made? Watch out Vegas, here I come!
OK, seriously. I checked on getting my heads flowed once and he wanted a lot more than 35 dollars a port, so either way, you lucked out. I really wanted to flow my old L98 heads after I ported them.... just out of curiosity, but I think the place I called wanted between 1 and 2 hundred!

i will post more pics i have a couple floating around now but it dosent show much other than the heads before porting and mabey the ridge i started to remove from the bowls i will update as i go right now im just goin through and taking all the large ridges out of the bowls where the seat area merges into the bowl area...these will be very light ported im kinda weary of opening up the bowls alot im mainly just tryin to remove the main restricitions although i did do a numer on the first guide boss its a major improvement but its the exuast so it was simple to reach we will see what i can do on the intake side.

Man, you lucked out big time. It'll be interesting to see how you did with the port work.
We need to get a stock and 454 TB to you for this guy to test. This is a good chance to finally find out how much these things flow. Hell, I'll pay the 35$ to find out.

u dont have anyplace w/ a flow bench around u i cant imagine it would be too bad to flow one....but i assume its very close to holleys 670 tbi since they both have two inch bores.

uhh, Buckhannon, WV just got a Walmart a few years ago, so no we don't have anyone with a flow bench around.
It sounds like your guy is much cheaper than most shops. I was wanting to flow a Stock TB VS. 454/holley TB. The holley and 454 TB's are the same thing, but no one knows for sure what they flow since holley doesn't seem to know what vacume they flowed them at to get their 670 cfm number from. Actually their was a guy on a truck site that flowed a stock one, but never got around to flowing the 454 TB. I'll have to check up and see if he ever posted data.

Opps, I posted about the same time you did Kdrolt, I guess he did get the 454 TB tested, and it does flow more than most people thought.....cool!!!
Mods, you think we could get a sticky either rehashings this guys findings, with full credit given to him of course, or at least with links to his thread?
