Urgent Need Help!!!!!

I am currently installing the open element thing, I bought spacers for it because its the drop base type of filter, well when I put the air cleaner on top of the spacers it fits perfectly and gets away from the coil wires very well, however when I put the lid on, I can't screw the washer onto the piece because its too tall....

Anyone have any ideas please I need to get this done.

nevermind I got it, the stud was too far into the TBI was I got it up a little bit and connected the wing nut...omg it drives so much better...

EDIT: I do have one question though, am I supposed to cap the intake manifold? You know where that metal tube connected to?

I am leaving it up for now...

I assume you are talking about the PCV tube from the valve cover. YOu need to leave that filter on that.

What kind of spacers did you use? You could have just left the gold irudite ring on there that's on it stock and it'd space it up just fine. Make sure you cap off the little vacuum line from the TBI that went to the stock Thermac.

I bought ones from Checker's for 10 bucks total, I dont think the material is as good as the stock one but it'll do for now, I tried resting it on the gold but it came in very close contact with my ignition coils..it still does now but I put a piece of cardboard in between and it seems to hold its place...

i had a dental type mirror for seeing in tight places.... it had a small rubber grip on it that just happened to be the same size as the nipple on the TB for the thermac... sliced it off with a razor and I was golden! LOL

oh by the way, the housing still came in slight contact with the wires (I covered them by the plastic wrapping) but just to be on the safe side I jammed a piece of cardboard in between the coil and the housing...so I think its all good...I hope!

But damn does my engine look good, I'll be cleaning this puppy up over the break and will be installing my muffler within the next week or so.......by then it'll be golden!

By the way still open to suggestions as to what to do about that open hole into the manifold on the driver's side...

oh yeah I forgot to disconnect the negative cable like the instructions by that guy said online here...

no light came on though so that means I did everything right....I hope....

By the way I noticed that when I installed the filter, my pull of the line has been noticeable decreased but it picks up alot faster though....is this how it is supposed to be, or should I give it a couple of days until the computer readjusts itself to this new air cleaner?

That "hole" is supposted to be routed to your TB in order to allow unburned gasoline fumes to re-enter your engine for a second chance at combustion.

It doesn't reduce HP like most emmissions systems, it should actually increase mileage slightly and keep your computer from reading a rich signal ftom the exhaust.
You definetly need to hook the pipe back up...

As far as the passenger's side you need to route it to a hole in the bottom of your open element (drill a hole, buy plastic valve) or get a push-in breather.

This just lets the air in that side to push the fumes through the cycle.

This could have something to do with the slow takeoff... almost like a vaccuum leak to your computer.
