Gonna push car off a cliff...

Well my 91 TBI is eating gas like all hell....(end of tbi related)....
I think I have a valve tick...leaking oil...... does anyone ever get the urge of just pushing thease cars off a cliff....its like a love hate relashionship with third gens...anyone else like that? And to say in the subject I am going to do spark plugs, oil change, oil pressure switch replacement, oil filter, etc...I hope that fixes my problems. Any input would be helpful.

It can be frustrating but these cars are very easy to work on. The simplest things can make these cars run screwy. I would start by checking the 02 sensor and possibly the CTS. You can test the CTS with an ohm meter, ice and hot water and a thermometer. The values of resistance are listed here on TGO somewhere and you can check to see if it is working properly. If the O2 is old I would just plan on replacing that anyways. A bad O2 on these cars will not always throw a code but can make your car run like hell. From there check the other items you mentioned.

I feel ya man. I've replaced everything on the car. I have new sensors, pumps, ECM etc. and its still hesitating and it has been going on for 6 months. I can't do a burnout and its kicking my ***.
I am, however, persistant and thats why my third gen will only get few kicks (where noone can see it) and I will continue to pamper it.

Love and hate relationship indeed!

..but idk, once ya get behind the wheel and give it some gas down the street, you remember why your doing all of this...(at least thats how it is for me)

I think that the following statement should be a moto for third gen owners.

"Only way to keep your car running the way its suposed to is to keep it stock. Don't fix it till its broke!"
Note: Making it faster does not make it run like stock.
Than

"You own a third gen because
1. You can't afford anything remotely expensive (5000 and up)J/K
2. You love the american muscle and 80's
3. You love to dick around with the car and enjoy fequent trouble solving."

Why do you love your third gen???
1. Because you are a ******* ( JK)
2. You agree that third gen is the best looking 80's car. (just take one look at a mustang!)
3. There are no other cars on the road like it today.
4. Its easy as hell to work on, and other owners are down to earth, willing to help a fellow third genner.

Now you know why I love thirdgen's and why many other people relate to them,

Yah i have a 1990 Rs Camaro, 305 TBI injected, love it but hate the little ****, (heater core), shifts late into 3rd when cold, but when warm and to the floor it Wont Shift into third, but i still enjoy tearing up the pavement, not quite fast enough, so if you have an upgrade let me know,
