dreaded POS Knock sensor
Okay guyies I know this has been molled over million times over but I am having a hell of a time the other forums I have asked and received as much help as having a monkey getting you tools. It just hasn't happend. I know the knowledge is in here soo it I can get pointed to what I need to do to finish the project it would be appreciated. I have a 93 k15 pick-up I did the 305, 350 swap. The things I have done thous far rebuilt tbi with 350 injectors, got the eprom for a 350. I have attempted to swap out the knock sensor for the 350 but I get the SES light. But if I put my old 305 knock sensor in the lights out. I have gotten the knock sensor from Advance and tried three different ones part number ks7. Is there a possiblity I am using the wrong one? oh just a FYI the 350 Eprom I got which is stock is a A/C delco drop in replacement. Also running a mild cam it's the Lunati Truck Avenger if you are wondering. So I need to know is the knock sensor I am running the wrong one or is my computer not liking it. Why would the 305 work and the 350 not??? Thanks for the help. This is one back yard mechanic ready to torch his ride. This is the only thing I cann't figure out. p.s sorry about the novel

I'll move this here because it's closer to TBI than anything else. If the mods here let it live, so be it. If not, you know the drill.

What ECM is the truck running? I see an 'E' trans listed so it is a PCM? When does the SES come on: few seconds after key on, or after a WOT run?
Couple of ideas: check the resistance of the 305 sensor. It will be either about 100K ohm or about 4K ohms. Then check the new 350 sensor. Should be the same as the 305 sensor.
If the 305 is 4K and the 350 sensor is 100K and the SES is coming on shortly after engine start, that is the problem.
RBob.

well I like to say thank you for the help from the mod. and Rbob I finally got the right one. I spoke with the store manager. I busted on him pretty harsh like but he gives it right back. FYI if looking for knock sensors on the Advance site it will list the manual sensor and not the automatic, also there system does the same thing. I got the correct one after having to have them order it in b/c they don't stock that but the manual they do. Go figure but for future refrence the part number from advance, which is for a automatic with 350 is KS6 and the manul is KS7. So thank you for all the help. The nightmare is done until I have the 4-71 blower.
