using a bigger than LT1 Cam?

I'm trying to find out more info about using a bigger cam (.480 to .500 lift) in the 305TBI motor. Has anyone been able to properly tune (through chip burning) a bigger cam to run good in our motors?...besides cutting the valve Guides, what else would have to be done (heads, ect.) to accomodate a cam with a bigger lift? (.480 - .500 range) Thanks for any tips and advice!

im running a zz4 cam, and my tune is great, took a while, but if you want to go larger than lt1 do it, just be prepared to put a lot of time into tuning it, and youll need to get different springs
