1983 Crossfire

I have an '83 TA with the crossfire; The car is new to me, and I'm trying to shape it up. Cannot find procedure for testing inlet door in hood bump. I want to make sure that it's opening when it should if it's even opening at all. With the hood open, I watched it while starting the car and after it's running--it never seems to move. When is the dang thing supposed to move? I thought about just applying a 12V power source to the solenoid, but thought I'd better ask first.

I believe they open up at full throttle. Its a rare thing to see those now, they only came in the 82 & 83 Z28 and Trans Am. But theyre really cool. Floor it and see what happens, from what I remember when I drove a 82" T/A it would open whenever I floored it.
