Valve springs
Ok well I have been thinking about replacing my valve seals on my 200k mile LO3. I thought it would be a good time to change the valve springs to a fresh set. What springs would you recommend for a stock cam and 1.6 RR?

Most would recommend the basic Comp cam or Crane 1.25" diameter springs. I have a set of Crane's on my Vortecs at the moment. (They were free) I also know of one engine (a 327) that the owner reports doing very well with the GM chrome silicon springs (orange).
With the 1.6 rockers be sure to check for clearance between the pushrod and the slot in the head. The rocker moves the pushrod closer to the pivot point and sometimes the pushrod scrapes the end of the slot.
It sounds like you are going to have a fun ride after the mods that you are planning.

Yes those are good springs. What lift cam are you looking to run? Keep in mind that the stock heads will only take so much lift before the retainers hit the seals.

You think those springs could handle that? I think that combo is upward near the high .400's in lift. If it can, I will go ahead and order them. Will I lose any power just by swapping them on because they are stiffer than whats on there?

Yes they will handle any of the LT1 cams with 1.6 rockers fine. I am running a similar Crane valve spring with .480 lift with no problems. No you will not loose any power if anything you will be able to rev the engine higher without valve float. (Within reasonable rev's)
Check out this link for all the info on those springs.

Crane 99848 or Comp 981 springs. They drop in with no modifications whatsoever and are significantly stiffer than any stock spring. The retainers will hit the guide seals on a stock head long before you bind up these springs (either is good for about .500" lift).
