performance chip?
my 1991 firebird 305 with 5 spd manual came with a jet chip. i was wondering if these things actually increase horsepower or not?

Usually, no. Do a search on chips and youll be amazed. Since it came with the car, you didnt waste money, but I wouldnt buy one.

They will help with other modifications but on thier own the best you can hope for is a little increase in torque due to quicker spark advance over stock settings. Other advantages are removal of speed limiters, and delayed torque converter lockup. correct me if I'm wrong. SQZBOX.
