TBI 350, runs until engaged in drive
I'm posting this for a friend who is having some problems.
The engine will run when in neutral and you can rev it just fine. Once it is put into gear you can get about 500 ft. before it will stall. Here is what I know has been done:
-Harness has been tested
-ECU swaped
-New fuel pump/filter
-New hoses
-Injectors replaced
-Timing
-New plugs, wires, distributor
Unfortunately he does not have a fuel pressure gauge to see what is going on there.
I think he at whits end any ideas?

This is actually a motor swap for a 1973 Land Cruiser.
The transmission is a GM SM420 manual transmission.[
The engine and wiring came from a 1990 G30 GMC van that originally had a TH400 in it.
ECM is an 8747
We've gone through this thing pretty substantially.
The problem is that it will run and idle just great, and if you are slow and smooth with the throttle, it will run great. But if you romp on the gas, it sputters, and drops rpms. Now it's just dying.
I think that it's not getting enough fuel.
The fuel pump is making more noise than I am used to hearing. The pump is a Holley inline fuel pump that was purchased from Howell. There is an 'EFI' filter (metal screen) upstream of the fuel pump, and a standard (paper screen) fuel filter after the fuel pump. We did remove the paper fulter to check if that was clogged. No clogs.
I think that there might be a problem with either the injectors or the fuel pressure regulator thats in the throttle body.
Any ideas?

I would definitely recommend getting your hands on a fuel pressure gauge first, as any advice given before-hand would be pure speculation. Engine's that immediately shut down under load (in gear) can be the result of a serious vacuum leak, and/or, of course, loss of fuel pressure...
