whining, sounds like a super charger.

i have a 305 tbi. ok i just replaced my intake with a weiand hi-rise "7546" then used any adapter so i can put my tbi on it. got it all back togetherand now i have this high pitched whining noise. it gets louder as rpm's go up. maybe a vacuum leak? how would i find this by using the carb cleaner method. oh and i know the tachs in these cars are bad, but it says that it idles at 25-3000 rpm. it does idle really high.

sounds to me like a vaccum leak. You could do the carb spray or you could just listen and find the vaccum leak. chances are its by the trottle body gasket just listen to it and put your finger around the base of it till the noise changes. Did you clean the base of the thottle body before mounting it and did you use a new gasket?

Did you make sure to set the timing correctly after the intake install? Check and make sure that all vacuum lines are connected as well as your throttle cable. Make sure that the throttle cable is mounted correctly and that it is not set to far backing causing it to open the throttle.
