Could you be more specific? If you are talking about the heat riser to the exhaust manifold I just took off what was attached to the air cleaner and left what was on manifold there.

BTW your sig says go big or go home. So where are you takin the lil 305? lol

That is a matter of opinon and climate. I recently shelved my open element for a stock air cleaner with a pieced togather intake setup on it. Works much better in the middle of the day, especially around town. Every 11* drop in temperature is worth about 1.5% HP. That means if you drop 50*(what I saw over an open element), you will gain around 6.8% HP, given the same air flow. Some airbox's are too restrictive to see this benifit though. The one that I just pieced togather has a large opening, large ducting, and a large opening into the filter assembly. On top of that it has a drop-in K&N filter that helps some as well. Must work pretty well, because I see MAP readings of 98-99KPA @ WOT still and thats with the stock POS spacer ring in it (I need to cut this air cleaner for my powercharger).

I made 218 RWHP with IAT readings in the 160*-170* range. I am now seeing IAT readings of 110*-120*. Given that same gain, IF I retested, I should see around 233 RWHP with no other changes. In reality, I would probably see gains of more than that, because of IAT spark compensation which pulls the timing when IAT rise to keep the engine from detonating on the superheated a/f mixture.

PS- I can tell you that it went from reaching 70 MPH on this one ramp, to nearly 80 mph by the end of the same ramp with just the air cleaner/induction change. This light is part of my daily drive and the light is long, with the open element things would be nice and toasty under the hood after idling with the a/c blasting. It was so dogish coming off the light it wasn't even funny. Now it just rips out of the light. Can't wait until it gets into the 60s and 70s here instead of this stupid 105* weather.
