Modified Air Cleaner Box...
Hey everyone,
I was bored last weekend so i decided to get a little creative with my intake. I have been running an open element air cleaner for awhile now, but I was never really happy with it. My injectors sounded really loud with it on, the chrome top looked really non-stock & it sucked in HOT air. I never really thought of using the stock air cleaner box due to the very small opening at the end of the snorkel. The solution....
I used a hack saw to chop off all but 2" of the snorkel. this left a 4" x 1.5" opening. Then I attached a length of flexable ducting to what was left of the snorkel with a 4" band clamp. I ran the ducting to the drivers side fenderwell by the horns. WORKS GREAT!!! The injectors arent as loud anymore & the engine is now getting plenty of cold air! Unfortunately, the only flexable ducting I could find was dryer ducting which is aluminum. (Not exactly factory-looking.) But it I am starting to like the way it looks under the hood. It looks very "high-performance"
I will get a pic up soon!

Looking good.
I am still in favor of the Caddy bonnet into the TPI style air box mounted in front. Functional and looks nearly factory.
