Quick 350 upgrade Q's

I'm buying a used 95 K2500 with a TBI 350 and 5-speed. I've done quite a bit of searching and lurking in the past, but I'd like to hear a few opinions, or better yet, experiences, before I plunk down my money on some upgrades. The truck is getting a new motor (being installed by the dealer I'm buying it from), and since it's not installed yet I can have them do a few things to it before they install it. I will eventually get into PROM tuning, etc., and plan on building a roller cam 383 with better heads in a year or two once the truck is paid for. I do not have the time and or money to do everything at once. I will add WB 02 and a better fuel system later, but before I put in the 383. My plan is this: Install a Summit 1102 cam, lifters and timing chain now. I will also add valve springs (which ones?) From what I've read, the stock TB (with ultimate mods) and stock manifold are OK for the power levels I'm looking at. I'm going to throw a MSD coil on it while it's apart. Should I upgrade the Fuel Pump now? Also, eventually I am going to add Edelbrock headers and a new cat. If I add them now will I flow too much air for the stock chip to handle? What if I throw a set of Iron LT1 heads on it? I am also going to do a full tune up, including a heated O2. This is a truck that will be used for work, etc., and must remain emissions legal. Eventually, the sky is the limit as far as mods are concerned, but the motor is going in at the beginning of next week and I need to have the truck cross country drivable by the end of next week, so I need to get the parts in the mail and will not have time to do any major tuning for a month or two. Am I missing anything? My main concern is getting the cam done, as everything else can be bolted on later. I don't want to have a poor running truck until I have time to tune. Finally, I think I've read somewhere that the 95's have a different computer than earlier models, am I still going to be able to burn chips and such? If not, will I need to change to an earlier computer? Thanks...

Actually Dimented has nearly fully documented the $OD code for your truck. They can be tuned, much the same way the older TBI ecms can be. The nice part is you can simply go with the new memcal adapter from Moatesfor the flash chip, no soldering required.

I did not have any major problems running 305/350 TBI trucks off of cams that spec'd the same as the K1102 on the stock chip. Some others claim to have had trouble. It will not run perfect, but it will run well. You might have to re-adjust the minimum idle rate on the TBI to around 600-650 rpm though. The idle logic tends to take a puke when you install a large cam with no tuning.

Thanks for the reply. Has anyone used the Edelbrock fuel pump PN 3581? It's listed on Summit as the pump included with the MPFI conversion kit, and is rated at 255lph and 100 psi. It's only about a hundred bucks, which is a bit cheaper than some of the others, and is a direct bolt in.
