y is tbi underestimated?
y is tbi underestimated?
i dont get it. People say that tpi is the real power source and tbi is nothing when the only real differences are fuel delivery. A sb 305 is a sb 305 reguardless of tpi or tbi wich means they should have the same power potential. The only reason the #s are differnet from the factory are becouse tpi came with different exahaust and cam (in most cases). Just a thought

This is true, but the factory TBI flows very little. You could put a low flowing throttle body on a TPI system and that system would suck. In fact, TBI is more prone to make low end torque than TPI, as TPI is tuned port injection, the runners are tuned for certain RPMs. The longer the runners the lower the RPM range, and vice versa.
I myself like TBI, I like the old car look with the open element on top. I plan on fixing up the 305 (so the 5.0 Stang guys can bitch that my engine has 48 more cubes than theirs) and putting either the Accel system which flows 750 CFM, or putting on the Holley truck upgrade w/ 2" bores simply because I hear it hooks up to the stock electronics. Plus I'm gonna need a custom chip anyways w/ my new cam/head/intake combo,
Just my opinion,
Jason

Its just like 89Blwn said. The factory TBI blows and the factory TPI was a little better. Why did chevy do this? Beats the hell out of me...but they did. Holley did us a favor and made a 670cfm tb unit though and a aftermarket intake can correct this as well.
