Guys, I need to re-locate my coil.
My coil is not going back on my manifold. Have any of you re-located it? I notice Accell sells a remote mount coil that should fit the two connector late model GM coil. Just curious, where did you put yours, and did you have to run a ground strap to it, due to bad grounding at the new location? Thanks!

Mounted mine on the driver side fender behind the strut tower near the relays. No ground strap needed.

I mounted mine on the firewall between the wiper motor and the brake booster. It fits perfectly and looks like it belongs there.
I hooked mine up using the supplied harness. There are red and black wire terminals for the power and ground, and the 8MM coil wire will plug into the distributor cap just like stock.

If you do mount it on the firewall, keep an eye on details like allowing for engine movement (since it's no longer moving with the engine) and that it should stay dry.
Although if you're not willing to have your coil on the manifold, is there any argument against getting the coil-in-cap version? Just a thought..

also a good idea if youre getting an open element. i put mine on and months later it rubbed thru the 12v into the coil and blew a few fusable links under the car. Just a reminder, it is on the bottom of the ultimate tbi article too. Just thought i bring it up with the topic.

That's exactly what happened to me when I got my 14" open air. I thought it was ok to have it sitting on the coil slightly. One day I hit a big bump and literally everything went off. It took me a few days to realize the connection. The mechanic I asked before I found the answer told me that when newer cars hit a big bump they sometimes shut down, like a fuse, until you push the reset button. I spent all night looking for that damn button.
