Put on Elderbrock TBI intake, car shifts different

Has this happened to anyone else? I put on the intake because I had it laying around and the car shifts like CRAP now. Someone said in another post it could be fuel related. I am wondering does that intake change the geomerty of the TV system. The shifts are sloppy and it feels like the car drops into neutrul between shifts. Taking off from a dead stop, the car shifts into second almost immediately. It is really making me mad. I have readusted the TV cable three times. Before I put the intake on it, the car would bark the tires shifting, now it feels like a wet noodle.

I've never had an issue with the TV system as the 3704 is designed as a stock replacement for TBI engines. I just want to make sure that you have it set right. Push the adjuster tab in, pust the cable all the way back to the firewall as far as it will go. Then release the adjuster tab. Fully open the throttle linkage at the TBI. You will hear a loud ZIP. The TV cable is now set to GM specs. This should correct it.

If you do this and still have problems, go to this link and read up about the TV system.

I have adjusted a lot ot TV cables but this one isn't working out. I have adjusted this one three different times the way that you described. Thats the way I have always done it. If you push down on the gas more, than you had to before it will shift ok. but you have to drive it alot more aggressive to get it not to shift bad.

Just my two cents here, but your TV cable may have streached enough to cause your problem. I went through the same thing after putting a Holley 670 TBI on my Blazer. It too a while to figure out, but basically the cable had streached a bit and had become elastic enough so that the proper adjustment was off, causing the same problems that you are experiencing.

Oh yea, one other thing, if you replace the cable DO NOT let GM sell you that stupid "universal" replacement cable! 99.95% of the time it will not work properly. INSIST on the exact replacement for you application! Ask me how I know about this little tidbit.

Def sounds like a TV cable, but if this is the case STOP DRIVING UNITL YOU GET A NEW ONE!!! You'll smoke the 3 & 4 out of that transmission quicker than... well, it happened to me in the first mile.

GOOD LUCK!!!

I was thinking about a stretched TV cable the other night. I am going to order one today from GM. I have been driving it ever since I put the intake on. Hopefully GM can get one soon. I will let you know if it fixes it or not. Thanks for the replies.
