basic info for a novice?!!!

hey guys i am a novice at modding cars, i was just curious why they call certain exhaust systems catback? Is this just a muffler with dual exits or what exactly does this include. Thanks for the help. Also i just ahold of an l-69 dual snorkel intake for my 92 tbi firebird, and i was wondering if anyone could give me some pointers on how to install this. I've been told that there may be a few complications with some of my emmisions gear, could anyone help me get past this as simply as possible without having to tear up my car.

Thanks guys, sorry i don't know more about this stuff, trying to learn as much as i can.

Have patience with me

Catback means all the ehaust parts AFTER the catalytic converter.

As for the dual snorkel setup, you will not have clearance for the tubing on the passenger side unless you remove your AIR system tubing (no can do if you have emissions) A better choice would be to get an open air element filter which in my opinion looks better, gets more air, and makes the car sound meaner when you open the throttle. Check some other posts and you will see other opinions that agree.

If you really are dying to have the dual snorkel instead of an open element, you can modify the tube that comes out of the black box that will be in your way. This involves cutting the tube that hook up to the smog pump and making it shorter so the black box(the diverter valve) will be out of the way.
