attn all 5 spd tbi guys a cool little mod (kind of)

ok guys i was gonna post this in the general tech section but i figured i would share this with only my tbi brothers. ok so its nothing all that big but it looks really kool. I went down the the local dealer to look at a brand new formula. It was a 6 spd and it had the hurst short throw shifter with the leather wrapped shifter ****. Well when i seen the little shift **** a light went on over my head. I thought "hey that would look kool on my car" so i went to the parts section and got a price on it. It was like 40$ and it fits like the OEM. Now i know this isnt directly tech related but there are 2 benefits from this. It looks really nice and it gives u a better handle on the shifter making it easier to work through the gears quicker. I luv the little "H" on the top of it.

Even better is the actual Hurst short throw shifter for the T5. I had one on my last RS. It makes quick shifting very easy!
I kinda liked the stock "baseball" shift ****.......NOT!

40 bucks for a crummy ball, screw that. Get a Hurst T-handle if you want to improve shift grip. But IMO I don't recommend it if you have a stock shifter. With the solid grip like a T-handle will give chances are you'll slam the gears too hard and bend a shift fork. This is where a B&M Ripper, Pro 5.0 and a Hurst (don't remember the model) come into play, they feature adjustable stops which will allow you to slam the gears with all your force and not bend a shift fork. Think of it as an investment plan for your trans when you get an aftermarket shifter.

So what is the best short throw shifter?

B&M Ripper, Pro 5.0, and Hurst, like he said. I have the Hurst, and a Hurst T-Handle with the button on it, for my line lock.

Any of the 3 will do. I like the B&M Ripper, cuz it's cheaper then the pro 5.0 and has it's snap back into center neutral feature, which aids in eliminating missed shifts on the 2-3.
