Flowmaster and Cat, will it FIT>????????

Hey!

Does anybody know what size is the cat on an '88 TBI Trans Am? It's 3 inches right? That's what they told me at Flowmaster. So I ordered the American Thunder 3 inch system. I hope it'll fit!!!

the cat should be about 2 1/4 -- 2 1/2 It sure isn't 3." It may still fit though, the end of the cat is kinda like a doughnut gasket....

theres always expanders, reducers. i think they can do that on those compression/donut exhaust fittings. If not what the hell, get a 3" cat some headers and y pipe. wait to put the catback on till you get the others, and do it all at once.

ok on your cat, the end facing the rear of the car. The pip has been curled under and expanded so it looks kinda like a donut on the end of the pipe. kinda. the pipe that connects there has been expanded out and rounded to fit the donut. Then the bracket slides over the flange and connects a bracket on the other side of the cat's donut. Ever seen a compression fitting under your sink?? How about fuel lines ends?? If you have no idea what i just said, you will when you get your catback system.

Do you think it'll fit then? I don't have money for a new cat yet. This will only be for a couple months.

i guess you wont know for sure till you get the pipe. however, it would be my guess that it will fit, but not well and you might have an exhast leak right there that will probably hisss a little. no way of knowing till you can measure stuff when you get it.
