Actually it was in the butterfly valves. Ok, I have my car stored, and I went out to just start it up and keep the gas fresh in there like I usually do once every week. Anyways, I took the open element off and was reving then engine with the throttle cable to get the engine hot. All of a sudden, BOOM, flames appeard and then died out immedietly down the butterfly valves and a quick puff of smoke. Car didn't stall out or nothin, it just kept on running like nothin happened. So what was that all about? Check my sig and see if it has to do with any of my mods. Thanks.

I have no idea what caused it, but it sounds like it misfired somehow and backfired into the intake. Carburated cars like to do that alot too.

im not sure, but this could be the problem. What is your timing set at. when i first did my swap my timing was really retarded and the engine backfired like 3 times. it was just like you explained also.
just a suggestion and a place for you to start.

I didn't backfire. It was just like a quick spark of flames in the TB bores and then nothing, then engine ran fine. No noise, just a puff of smoke real quick.
