Car: Turbo Buick
Engine: 3.8 V6
that cam is essentially a slightly hotter L98 cam

I think youll have a hard time going twelves with those heads unported with any cam but id look at an Lt4 hot cam or something larger

i think the lt4 hot cam with regular 1.5 rockers is around 480 lift im not certain though

btw id really look at porting those heads or possibly getting better heads

crappy heads and good cam = crappy car

crappy cam and good heads= still a good car

the power is in the cyl heads

The Dart Pro1's are really good heads and they are drilled for perimeter and centerbolt style valve covers. They have the old style intake bolt pattern though. We recently put a set of the 200cc's on a friend's 84 vette. They really woke that bad boy up!!

i need to learn more about cams, guess i'll keep reading! but anyway would it be worth the extra $$$ to get standard diameter springs that will take the "bigger" cam. i figure if im going to spend the money and do something , i should do the best job i can.

thanks for the help,
RS

Yes! Its always a good idea to put new, better springs on when changing to a bigger. longer duration cam. Changing the springs, alone, on a high mileage engine will give you better performance. The bigger cam needs the spring pressure to acheive its power and
RPM capability.

BR is correct. New springs are some of the best $30-$100 you can spend...
