305 Short Bock
Can we get new GM 305 shortblocks? I thought I had seen them on SDPC2000.com once, but now I don't see them anywhere.
My buddy has a '91 camaro that might still have good heads, but his shortblock is shot for sure. What do you guy's think he should do? He wants to put the stock L03 back in it, he's not worried about performace right now.
I figure he could put a new 305 shortblock in, and put the old L03 heads on the new block. Then maybe later after he doesn't have his car payment to worry about he can get some nice performance heads for it. The engine had 72,000 on it, we guess if the Odometer was right and that was the original engine.

No, he wants a 305, he has economy in mind, plus he wants everything to work properly without having to tune anything in.
I think he has plans for another car later.
I forgot to mention the old engine has been sitting under a tarp in his back yard since this summer, would problems arise because of the heads sitting so long?

For that he could just get the L03 long block. Have you ever seen a 305 short block? Or was that just in my head? I might have seen a rebuild shortblock somewhere else other than GM.

I might have seen the 350, and then remembered a 305.
Well I guess that option is out, he was planning to buy a new L03 longblock, I had him considering an L05 shortblock too. He would have had the money this summer, but he's gonna come up short now because his clutch went out in his s10. I guess the best thing he could do is to just save a little longer and get the new engine.
If it was me I would get a truck 4 bolt main L05, or get the 2 bolt caprice L05, but he says he wants to be able to stick the motor in and drive it without doing any extra mods.
