Taking off throttle body for ultimate TBI mods....Help?

I want to do the ultimate tbi mods to my 91 RS. How hard is it to take off the throttle body? Can anyone give me some instruction on how to do this and what to watch out for? Thanks guys. Also any picture or additional info to the tech articles would be cool if anyone has anything.

Piece of cake. Three bolts holding it down. Two fittings for fuel - be VERY SURE you do not cross thread these when reassembling. Before you start pull your fuse for the fuel pump and run the engine until it dies. Then crank it a couple of times to make sure it's out of gas. You can check my site for some pix and some ideas if you like.

just remember to disable the fuel pump first(the mistake i made the last time i had mine off) either disconnect the battery or undo the weather pack connector on the rear end tunnel wall.

hey getblown,
I checked out your article...looks good...very informative. I have a couple of questions though. First off, instead of spending the $50 for each gasket set that monument wants, can i get a "TBI gasket kit" and a "throttle body gasket" by standard ignition? Theyre a lot cheaper on carparts.com I just wasnt sure if the rebuild kit had more in it the just the gaskets. Also Do i need the pressure regulator gasket if i dont plan on making my fuel pressure regulator adjustable just yet? Or if i do choose to do so will the "pressure regulator kit" from standard ignition work? Its $26...hope thats the right one. Thanks a lot for the help.

I responded to your email, case you did not get it yet here's the email.

-------------

The GP Sorensen Fuel Injection Repair Kit comes with all the main gaskets needed. You only need the extra Carburetor Mounting gasket if you do your own TBI unit Spacer. And the Pressure Regulator Diaphragm is not needed at all if you do not rip your stock one when you take the FPR apart. I did not damage mine so I have no part number to list.

Go to Advance Auto/Parts America, they have what you need. Just give them the parts numbers. If they do not have it on hand go to AutoZone, but you'll pay more. Fuel Injection Repair kit was like $18 from AutoZone and the Carb Mounting gasket was like $7 bucks from AutoZone. Advance should have the main kit for $15 and the mounting one for $5, that's why I say go to Advance first.

oh yeah if your going to order thru the internet check out partsamerica.com and carpartsonsale.com with those part numbers. It'll save you money, the original carparts.com is overpriced IMO

Good luck,
