Same 305 TBI our cars have?
Reason I asked is I raced one from a roll of about 40mph. It was the best race the RS has ever had. As it seem pretty even. It was close with RS pulling a fender by 85mph. We slowed down to 40mph did it again. Same results.

The RWD Monte was replace by the FWD Lumina in 1989. I think the last RWD montes were carbed. My '79 Monte was

Taz,
Now that you mention it that seems about right.
This one was the older big body style. It must have been an 85-89 then.
Could have been an LG4 or something similar then.
Thanx

Come to think of it, I believe all the "real" Monte Carlos were carbed. Friend had an 87(88?) and it had a carb. Shame what they did to it, althoug it still looks better today than that aeroback looking thing they put out in limited numbers. I forget the exact name of it, but you remember, that big bubble rear window, man.
Another friend has an 85, and we dropped a decent TPI 350 in it. Sure surprises people, but it was a pain to go from carb to fuel injection. I am surprised the race was so close...what do those things way compared to an average RS?

I know that an '85 could have a L69 305 HO. That motor was carbed.

yo u should have wasted that monte. Even if u had the identical motor montes weigh alot more than ur car does. He was either modded or ur car needs a tune up. IMHO

My RS has 214,000 miles on it.
It dyno'd 132hp 220 ft/lbs of torque at the rear wheels. So hp is down about 5-8hp and torque is up about 20. Car has dynomax cat back. At the time of the race I weighted 330 pounds. So my Camaro had so extra weight.
The Monte Carlo had at a flowmaster on it. I couldn't tell about any other mods Overall the MC was in very good condition.
My RS is probably a good 3650 pounds being an auto with T-Top and most other options. Thats probably pretty close to what an MC weights.
