2 questions for ya

I got 2 questions for ya. First is what is the computer you guys always talk about an how better and what kind is it? Last is the smell coming from my car in cold winter first starts. It smells so awful. it's not like the typical rotten egg smell. It's a sulfuric smell. Can I get rid of this by gutting the cat? I heard some of the guys saying not to do thid b/c of back pressure. If you have a muffler, then you have backpressure, right?

I'm not sure about it fixing the smell, but gutting your cat won't have any adverse effects. If it hasn't been replaced by now it's probably done doing any converting anyway.

Your car is in a rich mixture mode when it's first started up that's why it smells. When you ask about the computer, I assume you are talking about the car's computer.

The computer controls your fuel injection system. Sensors on the engine send it data about he engine, temperature, exhaust oxygen content, airflow(some systems). . . With this info the computer tries to tightly control the air/fuel ratio to optimum levels.

Thanks for the cat fix thing. The computer thing I was asking about was the 7747 computer. What car is this from and what does it do for the TBI motors?
