Short Shift Instalation?

I was wondering what is the best short shift to buy. I am currently looking at the B&M ripper shifter and the pro 5.0. Any of you who have these could you tell me how tall it is and how well they work? I am looking for a shorter shaft than stock because I have a new Momo **** and it is very tall but has been customly tapped to match the thread size on the stick. So if I have a shorter shaft it will look awesome. Also, what is the best way to instal one? I have read that you have to take the whole dash apart including the A/C controls (which can be tricky). I would love to hear from someone who has done this and tell me your thoughts.

Check the product review forum, I posted a topic on my review of my Hurst Comp Plus in there and there's a pretty good topic about shifters near the top too.

I have the Ripper, and I love it! You definitely do NOT need to take the whole dash apart. Here's all you need to do: Remove shift ****, top of console, and lower shift boot. (removing lower boot might be PITA without removing whole console, but I think it's less of a PITA than removing whole console) Remove shifter. Clean surface where shifter sat. Put sealant bead on that surface if you wish, I didn't and have no trouble. As haynes manuals put it: installation is reverse of removal. One extra step though. Once shifter is secore, you need to adjust the stop bolts per shifter's instructions. Enjoy!

when I put a manual in I want a nice clean setup, no console, short shifter with custom straight crome rod, new carpet, chrome shifter boot hold down, new small boot.

Tas the factory rod is strait and my Hurst Comp Plus is too.

You don't want to ditch the center console, trust me. Your elbow rests perfectly lined up with it for shifting or least for 6 foot me. When I installed mine I toyed with the shifter and was like dam this feels awkward not having my console to rest my elbow on. On the otherhand I'd have to say you'd save a good 20lbs(?) with it gone...
