I have the thermomaster in my 89 RS and its OK. I felt a difference in throttle response and it felt a little more powerful all through the rpm range. This was the very first mod I did to my car and I did a lot more mods before I took it to the track so I can't give you a difference, on a timeslip by just changing the chip. I wish I would ran my car between every mod so I could write a tech article telling people what they could expect with each mod, but hey hindsight is always 20/20.
Now, it won't take long, until you should start getting replys to this post telling you how much the Hypertechs suck and how much better a custom burned chip would be, and THEY ARE RIGHT. A custom burned chip will do much better than a Hypertech, but if ask me is it worth the $100-$120, I think it is. I plan to get a custom chip later on, but I'm not going to spend the $$$ on one, until I get all the major mods done to my car. Until I install heads, cams, headers, different intake, and my 454 TB, I'm going to run my Hypertech. When I get all the mods above done, I'll buy a good custom chip matched to that combination and live happily ever after - I hope!! JMHO

I have the hypertech thermo chip right now and it seems pretty good. I think it just has a little more agressive fuel and spark curve. Not much though. In fact a lot of times people can't even see the difference even with it's all graphed out. I personally would keep the chip if you already got it and if that's all you plan on doing to the car. If you plan on getting different heads or a cam swap then custom chip is pretty much a must. Have fun

I wouldn't pay 121.00+6.00 for a mod that is going to give me a better fuel/spark curve. Find one on the net used for like 40 bucks. Thats what I did.
