Carb Intake VS T.B.I Intake

Looking to replace my stock intake with the edelbrock TBI intake but i see people talking about using a carb intake with an adapter plate My question is whats the diffrence are you going to gain more power by sticking a carbed intake with a tbi spacer on it or just get the TBI INTAKE I don't see the diffrence also is anyone outthere running anything besides the Edelbrock TBI Performer intake and if so what type

Well the TBI intake is okay but it's not for the 2" units. As for performance I don't think there is much of a difference. I main reason people use the adaptor plate is because there are more selections as to what kind of manifolds they can use in the future. Like me, I want to use the RPM manifold with my engine and the TBI that edelbrock makes is the performer. If you were going to do a mild build up say 300hp with a 350, then the edelbrock TBI manifold would be fine. I'm looking more at 400hp and more power between 2500-6000 so the RPM is what I want. Also you can usually get a carb manifold for a lot less than the TBI.

The carb intake and adaptor gives you (flamesuit on) the ability to run a carb if you decide that you want to in the future. You might you might not, I probably am. And I'm having my projection intake drilled out to accept a Square Bore, the Holley requires a little fabrication but is way bigger than the edelbrock (TB size) and should work with stock TBI unit.

well, when hotrod built up their RS to run a measily low 14 with the 305, they determined that the tbi performer wasnt up to the task and used the carb performer

In a Hot Rod article I have kicking around (probably the same one Pablo is talking about), they said the Edelbrock TBI intake caused fuel distribution problems. The company that was doing the modifications (traco performance... as far as I know they are out of business) used a carb style performer intake with their own "secret" TBI adaptor plate to solve these problems.

Pablo, you have an EGT on your car. Have you checked the temps of different cylinders against each other?
