pulleys and chip q

While I'm at it- Do pulleys work? Anyone have
posive experinces or advice?

Should I buy a chip or just advance my timing
or do both?
(how do I do this- I need to unplug something..and how many degees?)

Pulleys do work as long as you're not expecting a whole lot of power gain. The only problem is depending on hte kit, if it underdrives the alternator you might get low output at idle from the alt.

Until you have more mods on hte engine, a chip won't really be worth the money, just advance the timing. To advance timing you need to unplug the electroninc advance control lead. It's a single brown wire coming out of the wire loom right in front of the A/C blower housing. As far as how many degrees, you're best bet is to experiment. Advance it 2 degrees, reconnect and tighten everything and go for a test drive. If you hear no ping or feel hesitation, advance it another 2 degrees. When you finally hear pinging, or feel hesitation, retard timing 1 degree at a time till it goes away. I've had best luck with 4* BTDC myself...
