L05 Question
L05 Question
First i liked to say i have used search for 2 days and havent found what i want. My question is what are the best heads for an L05 with a LT4otcam.
I have read about vortec heads but is there anything better like an aftermarket vortec or something just trying to make sure i get the right heads. thanks to all who reply

Requesting the "best heads" for your engine might prove impossible to answer and it would also be dependent on you ultimate goals with this engine. And even if we did find the best heads next week someone would probably come out with something better or a better port job for the heads.
That being said there are some logical suggestions that can be made to go along with your LT4Hotcam.
If budget is a concern then Vortec would be a good choice. Be aware of the max lift issues with vortec, you will need to either have the valve guides cut or as I did use the Crane Valve Spring Retainer Kit – P/N 10309-1 to incrase the max lift capability. In addition, you need a vortec intake manifold.
If you like the vortec idea, but want a little more look at the Edelbrock E-tec alum. heads. They would do you well.
If you want to stay away from vortec style heads, then you might consider Trickflow 23 degree 195 heads.
I think many would say if budget is not a problem then something like the AFR 195 heads would be a good choice.
The major car mags have done numberous articles over the years flow testing and dyno testing various heads with many engine combos. You may want to do some seaching on their sites.
Hope this helps.
