Help I need pics of Duel Snorkel setups
As the subject says.. I'm trying to fit a duel snorkle system onto my 89 RS, and I would like to see what others have done. I would really like to make this work. Thanks.

Same here. I would love to see some other setups. I am planning on going to a junk yard and finding one but it might not fit because of A/C. I would love to hear others imputs and how easy of a job it really is

I have seen one pic on this site in a tech section of this site of a duel with A/C, though it was a older car that had different components on the passenger side. My concern is the air diverter that is connected to the air pump, which has a metal tube connecting the two. The passenger snorkel goes right over top of it, Though I was reading in another post about some that have moved it.. I'm looking into this. But I'd still like to see some pics of late 80's early 90's with the Duel Snorkel setup. Thanks

Sorry I don't have any pictures but that is exactly what I have. 91 RS with the dual snorkel and AC. Yes you need to move the emissions stuff. I just unbolted that plastic part from the metal pipe off the air pump. Then I just pushed it over towards the strut tower brace. My big problem was the fact that I had the 3 point strut tower brace and so I had to move it around a little more. Basically I didn't feel like taking if all off so I just pushed it out of the way. Right now the air from the air pump just pumps out into nothing. I don't see a big problem with it. When I get the new engine in and hook everything up I'm going to use an open air cleaner. I want to use the dual snorkel cleaner just because it hides the manifold better and so the emissions visual won't look so far from stock. Also when I pop the hood for a race I'll be able to say yeah it's a TBI RS, a few mods
hehe, never know what hit em. Then I'll tell them everything.

Do you think the metal pipe coming from the pump has to be metal. I figure if I get another metal pipe from a wreakers and cut it and put a rubber hose in beween with two metal ends it might work. How much pressure is actually coming from it? I'm just wondering why it's a metal pipe.. unless that is all the plastic box is mounted to. My car is in storage right now. so it's a bit harder to just run out and look. Thanks.

My car is 540 miles away in storage so I can't exactly go out and look either. The air "thing" is bolted only to the metal pipe which comes off of the air pump. It's a pain to get down in there to unbolt it, especially with the strut tower brace still on. I got it off and just pushed it off to the side and it was fine. The pressure is a joke, I could put my thumb over it to block it. The pump only pumps a little bit of air into the manifolds/headers to add more N to the exhaust gas so when it gets to the cat there is enough N and O to do the convertions to N2 and H2O. If you want to pass emissions I recomend putting the stock air cleaner back on just for visual. The swap is really easy. I remember having to do the swap in a 20 minutes because I had to head off back to school (540 miles) before 9am and I woke up at 8 and had to pack. The plastic air unit is basically just a valve that lets the air distribute to both exhaust manifolds.

"Smog Pump" piping is mostly metal because:
A) Proximity to engine block.
B) Proximity to exhaust manifolds
C) Stailess steel (yeah that's right) will outlast a rubber hose any day.
Of course none of this matters if you have ditched the pump, piping, and stock manifolds. It's amazing how much room is freed up too I can change all the plugs on the passenger side without getting under the car. Who says there is not enough room under the hood?
Stock air filter housing = crap
Stock dual snorkel housing = slightly better crap.
"Ram Air Box" with dual 3" inlets at 110 degrees apart = Lots of F'n air.
they have a kit for third gen f-bodies too

This is my next mod. with air ducts routed to wheel wells

Thanks for the input FRMULA, unfortunatly around here I can't remove the Smog stuff, so I need to make it work.. Well, I'm not sure what options you have in your car. But on mine, there is only one spark plug that I have to get under the car, and thats the drivers side rear one. The passenger side is a peice of cake. But since I just picked up the duel snorkle system, I'll use it.. Anyways for those who want to, or have to leave the smog stuff in, I found a pipe that can go between the air diverter & the air pump. It's metal & flexible. and I measured it up and it looks like it'll fit.. I found it in a 86 Firebird, 2.8L Multiport FI. Here is a link to a picture of it.

You must not have A/C if you can change the plugs on the passanger side from up top. I had the Smog pump with all the piping AND the A/C to contend with, plus I have huge hands. I still have A/C but there is much more room now.

Yup, your right on that one.. no A/C.. besides the only time I wish I had A/C is in the summer if it rains.. man it gets humid in the car. Other than that the T-tops are off. thats my a/c. I'm well under way on moving my air diverter. I'm basically mounting it off of the metal heating duct near the fan motor. I'm working on a good meathod of getting the air from the pump to the diverter.. everything else falls into place from there. I'll post some pics once I have the diverter in it's new home, and some pics of the duel system insalled..

I got the3 dual snorkle on my 91 RS with A/C/
I didn't have to move anything since I got the T.B.I. spacer. I still need to get the plastic hoses because the junkyard didn't have them. I'll try to get you some pictures of it.
