Edlebrock TBI Performer Manifold Worth it?

Is the EdleBrock TBI performer manifold worth the money. Is there a noticable difference in the power with no other mods. I am considering putting on a 350 TBI Mastercraft and was wondering if anyone has had any good experiances.

Thanks gdkng

First you say no other mods then you say 350 TBI in the next sentance. If it's between the edelbrock and the stock 305 intake on a 350 then the edelbrock is worth it, just don't expect any huge gains if you use the stock 305 exhaust manifolds.

sorry, I should have specified. The truck TBI's are all 350's and so are all of the marine stuff. I was just curious of the performance gains of the edelrock TBI performer on a 350. It slipped my mind that most TBI thirdgens are 305's.

WELL I PUT THE PERFORMAER TBI INTAKE ON MY 305 AND I THINK ITS WORTH IT. aLTHOUGH YOU WILL GET MORE POWER OUT OF IT IF YOU GET A AFTERMARKET CAM TOO. YOU PROB GET ABOUT 10 hp GAIN WITH JUST THE INTAKE.

the performer tbi is a very good manifold. it can carry you a long way, i think it is capable of 12's.

For a marine application i think youd be better off with a single plane

NJ Speeder, you believe the manifold is good for 12's and the bores are not even 2"? So you mean that you think it's possible to get the edelbrock performer tbi and the stock tb unit into 12's? That would be something I'd definitely like to hear more about.

Do not use that manifold for high performance high-rpm applications... Use an RPM or even a Performer carb manifold with an adapter plate. IMO

soulbounder,
we will see if my mathematical theories hold any water hopefully by mid season. i am figuring that a correctly prepped but still stock bore tb can flow enough air to support 275-300hp at the rear wheels and make peak power below 5400rpm.
i hafta fix a bunch of other stuff on the car before we find out though.

Tim, I'm right behind you in the "small TBI" is enough theory.

What combo(s) are you going to run to get your hp??? Curious to see whatcha gonna try. That's a lot of RWHp you're shooting for. Now THAT would surely be impressive.

I am soon (end of march engine removal) to try Vortec heads (slightly cleaned up/readied for the lift OR the SDPC fancy ones) with the HOT CAM kit, the 1.6 rockers and a RPM AirGap manifold. I'm only running about 9:1 CR, though, and think that cam may need/want more. I also need 80 or 90pph injectors, too, to support the hp.

Maybe we can get together here and help each other out with the combo/PROM tuning, etc... Gonna be fun!!!!!!!!!!!

my combo is pretty simple. i run the performer tbi manifold, edelbrock performer centerbolt heads, comp cams 1.6 rockers, and most of the ultimate tbi stuff.
my plans for the motor are a 97 LT1 cam and soem crane full roller rockers along with a custom chip to keep it running right. the bulk of the work i do on cars is suspension related, so that is where i plan to get most of the et from. i figure i need about 275-285 RWHP to get the approx. 105mph i think i need for a serious shot at a 12.
i hafta make sure the 101K+ motor stays together long enough to try though if not i'll just rebuild it with 10.5 to 1 compression and make this all really easy

Just out of curiousity Tim, have your heads been shaved. If your Edelbrocks are still 60 cc and you used the composite gasket recommended for the heads, your compression should actually be around 9:1 or a little less. If this is the case, then your car mathematically would be maybe a tenth/tenth & half faster with 9.5:1 With that being said, you would have knocking hard on 13's on your last run at the track, just a thought???
