Whats the first mod that you would suggest for a 305 tbi w/ a T-5
lol aright guys dont take my word for it. Mod the hell out of it. If u ever plan to sell it let me know what u got for it.
now lets get back to the origional topic. I would recomend gears as a first mod for a 305 TBI 5 spd. BTW BIGTEX did u get the 5 spd conversion done yet? not trying to be a smart *** i was JW

Your the devil onefine8t9, look at your posts numbers!
I would have to agree with the devil though, Gears or exaust/headers is a great first time mod.

na, i am waiting on the starter to get in. after that, its going to the shop. the guy doing it said he would do the swap for 350 bones. is that good. thanks for getting back on the original topic. I think that I will do the gears first. with gears and a stick shift, will i be able to beat a 305TPI. thanks

i would definatly do headers and exhust, maybe a cam if your up to it and a intake. depending on your curent gears i would do a swap. i mean if oyu have 2.78s or something gay like that i would swap em out, but if you have 3.42s i would just do the exhust cam and intake

Curent: 350,performer RPM intake ,650dp, 700r4, headers, 3inch exhast
Spring 01: 406, Comp 282 solid cam, 2400 stall converter, every thing else the same.

BIGTEX i would say a 3.73 rear gear would be great with a 5 spd due to the low 5th gear ratio. With a 5 spd and gears u will be able to take out a 305 TPI. If its a 305 TPI 5 spd u might have a litle more trouble but certainly a run for the money.
does edelbrock make a good cam or is the LT4 cam better. Will I have to do any PROM work if I get either of the cams mentioned above.

im not exactly sure on cam swap and which one is the best. I know crane cams makes a great cam for computer controled cars like ours. Its the compucam series cam shafts. take a look at those, it might be worth it.
8T9...thanks for the cam info...
i have heard that edelbrock tbi manifold is not the best for performance. I am looking for some low end torque...holly or weiand manifold? I suspect that there is a two barell adapter for an application like this.

the edelbrock intake is all about torque. If your "performance" is torque oriented than get the edelbrock. If it is HP oriented with new cam and more flow, then get a single plane with an adapter.

Tas,
that torque will transfer into hp wont it? Maybe I just don't know what the hell I'm talking about.
I'm looking for a manifold that will (along with other goodies) put me into the low 13's.

torque turns into HP when you let it breath. For example. the 1991 L98 Vette had about 245HP and 350TQ. By changing to a short runner intake in the LT1 they turned the 20TQ they lost into about 50HP. 300HP 330 TQ.
for low 13s you'll definately need cam, heads, and exaust.
go make another post this one is too cluttered now.

Best first mod?Exhuast(headers back, keep your flowmaster).
MY car looks bone stock on the outside. What I have done enhances the performance of a seriously restricted sports car.The RS a rocket waiting to be tapped and gives us gearheads something to do.
It's value is reletive of the fellow who looks at it and says "that bad".Usually the appearance of my modfied LO3 knocks poeple out(it looks like an old early 70's motor stuck in 90's body).
I have been offered $8000.00 for the ride and turned it down. The guy who offered said he just loved the way it sounded(like a 69 with chambered pipes).SO THERE!
