Tips on .5" TBI spacer

I know the basics of my TBI unit. I just had to replace one of the injectors. I need to use a spacer to make my open air element clear my distributer. Are there any tips or precautions I should look out for. I am going to buy the .5" one from TD performance products. I know that a half inch is the largest I should go in order for the linkage to fit. has anyone used the TD one. Does it come with all neccesary gaskets and suplies. Is this a straight forward instalation? Is this easy to do or is it a PITA? (gaskets? throttle linkage length?) Thx guys. I am home for spring break (car just came out of storage) and I get to work on my car the whole time!!!

would it work if you just made a thicker gasket between your airfilter housing and the TB airhorn?

I am not sure. I want to use the spacer though because it gives you a little more power and a little better throttle responce. I am looking for someone out there who has a summit open air element with a spacer and how well it worked out and if they had room for their hood to completely shut.

I was an idiot and got the 1" spacer (didn't know at the time) and I had the wingnut hitting the top of my old hood with just a 14x2.25" open element. I know have a ram air hood which gives me lots more clearnce and I put in a 14x3 element now. But like I said, try doing some of the math there. 14x2.25" and a 1" spacer will BARLEY fit under the hood. (the wingnut will hit)

Thanks Bird,

I am only going to get a half inch one and then the 2.25" filter so it should all fit. plus I don't want to extend any of the fuel lines or linkage myself (which you have to do if the spacer is bigger than .5"..right?)
